The Centre for Sustainable Healthcare are collaborating with Ecominds project ‘Connect’ in Grimsby. Connect is designed to bridge the gap between the GP and community structures that contribute to individual wellbeing. As well as flexible individual interventions Connect also provides a resource for all practice staff to broaden their range of signposting options. The service represents a viable alternative to CBT and medication, is a low cost option and potentially carbon saving too. It can be used for the early stages of the stepped care model for treatment of depression and other mental health issues, as well as being suitable for those experiencing isolation and frequent GP attenders. Key to Connect’s approach is increasing awareness of the determinants of wellbeing, active promotion of resilient lifestyles and direct support to enable change – it therefore employs lots of principles of sustainable health care.

Members of Psychsusnet are performing an analysis that will be assessing the impact of the Connect project on GP attendance and prescribing rates.

If you would like to get involved in a similar type of analysis let me know!
