Announcing the Carbon and Equity target areas that could transform care and launching the Green Maternity Challenge- event 2

We are running the event twice to increase the opportunity for people to be involved despite their busy schedules (12th July 2-3pm and 24th July 7-8pm)

Dr. Ranee Thakar, President of the Royal College and Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) and Fiona Gibb, Director of Professional Midwifery for the Royal College of Midwives (RCM) will be introducing how the sustainability and equity agendas can help drive forward the quality of maternity care.

• Learn about how the Centre for Sustainable Healthcare (CSH) and partners have carbon footprinted maternity care and what equity and carbon hotspots were discovered
• Hear what target areas have been identified for the maternity community to tackle
• Find out about how you can be involved in the solutions through the launch of our Green Maternity Challenge

• Those delivering all aspects of maternity care, including ante- and post- natal care (midwives, nurses, gynaecologists, health visitors, primary care staff)

Project background:

The Centre for Sustainable Healthcare, in partnership with the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG), the Royal College of Midwives (RCM), and the Sustainable Healthcare Coalition is leading a ground-breaking project funded by SBRI (Small Business Research Initiative). This initiative seeks to develop innovative interventions to improve the social and environmental sustainability of maternity care throughout the UK. Titled "Taking Collective Action to Deliver Low Carbon, Equitable Maternity Care," the project engages stakeholders from obstetrics, midwifery, and individuals with maternity care experiences to identify and address carbon emissions and health disparities within maternity services.
