Gay Keating is a New Zealand medical graduate and public health specialist who has worked in primary care, hospital service planning and management, national policy advice and public health advocacy. Her particular interest is the way systems and organisations are influenced to implement existing evidence to improve health and improve equity. In recent years she has had an honorary base at Te Rōpū Rangahau Hauora A Eru Pōmare (Eru Pōmare Māori Health Research Centre), Otago University, where her research focus has been on ethnic inequity. Recent work has included equity impacts and opportunities in climate change, global trade agreements and closing ethnic inequity in treatment of child asthma using health service quality improvement. She is currently undertaking doctoral research on scalining up climate action in the health sector.
