Dr. Jodi Sherman is an anesthesiologist as well as the Environmental Compliance Officer at Yale-New Haven Hospital. She is also an Associate Professor at the Yale School of Medicine. Dr. Sherman has been a passionate advocate for making changes in how clinicians deliver anesthesia care while reducing their impact on the environment. She has presented at the CleanMed conference several times and has recently brought her work to the American Society for Anesthesiology and the World Congress for Anesthesiologists where she is helping launch a challenge to reduce the generation of waste anesthetic gases—a significant contributor to global climate change. Within the hospital setting, she has helped educate fellow anesthesiologists while advocating for more recycling of waste generated from anesthesia care to the reduction of the use of anesthetic desflurane where not clinically necessary.
