Critical Care Susnet aims to foster environmental sustainability within the care for critically ill patients, with financial and social sustainability co-benefits.  The network brings together clinicians, researchers, educators and students interested in sustainable critical care.

From July 2022 the network is endorsed by the Intensive Care Society and the British Association of Critical Care Nurses.

The carbon footprint of treating patients with septic shock in the intensive care unit

This study by McGain et al. (2018) carbon footprinted the daily care of 10 patients with septic shock in an Australian intensive care unit in comparison with 10 patients with septic shock in an intensive care unit in the United States.
