Looking for a Green Fellow in Sustainable Respiratory Medicine

What will respiratory medicine look like in 5 years’ time, when carbon rationing is re-shaping the NHS? Do you want to take a lead in that transformation?

The Centre for Sustainable Healthcare is starting an exciting project, funded by GlaxoSmithKline, to improve the environmental sustainability of respiratory medicine, focusing in particular on COPD. We wish to appoint a healthcare professional in respiratory medicine for a one-year period, as a clinical lead.

Royal Colleges and Great Ormond Street sign up to 10:10

Four leading medical institutions have demonstrated their commitment to cutting carbon by signing up to the 10:10 Campaign.  The Royal College of GPs, the Royal College of Nursing, the Royal College of Psychiatrists and Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children have all signed up to the target of cutting emissions by 10% over 12 months.

New BTS asthma guidelines encourage use of low-GWP inhalers

Section 8.6 of the new BTS/SIGN Guideline for the management of asthma highlights the environmental impact of metered dose inhalers (pMDI) and recommends that inhalers with low global-warming potential (GWP) should be used when likely to be equally effective.
