Naturally Healthy?

Tuesday, July 12, 2016 - 08:30 - 14:30
Centre for Life, Times Square, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 4EP, GB

The North East Local Nature Partnership (NELNP) is holding a workshop together with the Ecosystems Knowledge Network (EKN) and The Centre for Sustainable Healthcare (CSH) to determine how improved access to the natural outdoors might play a greater role in addressing the health priorities of the North East.

The event will be focused on established health priorities within the NELNP area. It will support work being developed with the Health and Wellbeing Boards to include a strong case for the importance of the environment to health and wellbeing in their Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) and Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy (JHWS). It will strengthen the NELNP’s efforts to ensure that a major new development in the region is a ‘healthy development’ for both the workforce and surrounding communities.

The workshop complements an NELNP forum event in September 2016 and includes key national and local participants. It will be very practical, focusing on local needs and bringing together the people who can make commissioning of strategic programmes and projects in the natural environment for health and wellbeing a reality.

This workshop is designed to attract directors of public health, public health commissioners, GPs, council staff involved in transport, planning, parks and leisure and others working in health and social care locally as well as people working on local nature based projects with measurable health benefits.
