Webinar- Sustainable Dentistry: A Guide to Being Greener in Dental Practice
The healthcare sector has a considerable impact on the environment. It has been estimated that the greenhouse gas emissions caused by the NHS are 22.8 million tonnes of CO2e per year. Moreover, the provision of healthcare contributes to air and water pollution. To reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 80% by 2050 in line with UK government targets, every organisation and specialty will have to play its part.
The Centre for Sustainable Healthcare in partnership with Health Education England is hosting a webinar to launch their guide on sustainable dentistry. The webinar will introduce sustainability in healthcare and dentistry, focusing on the topics of biodiversity, energy and greenspace. Speakers will include Dr Brett Duane, Associate Professor in Dental Public Health at Trinity College Dublin, Dr Frances Mortimer, Medical Director of the Centre for Sustainable Healthcare and Dr Gavin Ballantyne, an ecologist and lecturer at Edinburgh Napier University.
Mr Miguel Colaço, Principal Dentist of Honeycomb Dental Clinic, will discuss creating a sustainable dental practice- ranging from solar panels, to reducing waste, composting and creating a 'living roof.'
This Webinar is worth one hour of verifiable CPD.
