National Institute of Health and Care Excellence Surveying its Environmental Impact

Jacqueline Cutting's picture

As a proof of concept project, the National Institute of Health and Care Excellence (NICE) is exploring its guidance's environmental impact.

NICE are seeking your opinions on their first draft report and calculator, using the NICE Medicines optimisation guideline (NG5) as an example.

The survey is interested in finding out how much of a priority you give to the environment, and your thoughts on the example report and calculator. Use the links below:

Environmental impact report: Medicines optimisation

Medicines optimisation: sustainability calculator

With this calculator, you can estimate potential benefits to the environment from avoiding hospital admissions for adverse medicines events. These benefits may be realised by reducing capacity or by enabling a reallocation of capacity to increase health outcomes with the same environmental impact.

The survey is open to 4 October - take it here
