Kidney units are invited to share their local successes via this year's Green Nephrology Awards. The 2013 Awards are open to all kidney units or providers of kidney care, who may enter one or more local initiatives that demonstrate a benefit to the environmental sustainability of kidney care.

Shortlisted entries will be presented in poster format at the CleanMed Europe conference 17-19th September (in Oxford), and at the Green Nephrology Summit on 25th September (at Guy’s Hospital in London).  Awards for outstanding entries will be presented at the Summit.  All entries will be considered for inclusion in the Green Nephrology online case library

The judging panel will be looking for entries which:

  • demonstrate a measurable benefit to the environmental sustainability of kidney care
  • provide evidence of additional benefits, for example improved patient experience or outcomes, financial savings, improved staff wellbeing, or benefits to the local community
  • give insight into practical barriers encountered and how these were overcome
  • highlight other information which will assist organisations to implement similar changes (for example, detailing who was involved, what resources were required, and how the change will be sustained. Please see the Green Nephrology case study template for further guidance)

Award entries should be submitted by the closing date 4th September 2013 to green.nephrology@sustainablehealthcare.org.uk - using the template provided.

Please note that the deadline for Early Bird registration for CleanMed Europe is 31st May. If you would like to be sure whether your poster has been accepted before the Early Bird deadline, please submit a summary (max. 500 words) before Monday 27th May 2013.

Just one week left until the closing date for this year's Green Nephrology Awards...

Award entries should be submitted by 4th September 2013 to green.nephrology@sustainablehealthcare.org.uk - using the template provided.

Please do submit your local projects - big or small.  You never know they might win!  And even if not, they will help to build the Green Nephrology online case library, a key resource for people trying to improve the sustainability of kidney care.
