How would you like a re-located Chelsea Garden?

If we (The Healing Trust) are sucessful in our bid to host a garden at RHS Chelsea in May 2024, we’ll need somewhere to re-locate it. Would you like it?

Currently we have jumped the first big funding hurdle. We now have funds for our designer to create the complete garden plan right down to the last plant. It will be for one of the smaller gardens which are approx 8x6 metres. Our designer is very eco- minded and our garden will be very natural looking with lots of insect friendly plants and places to put your bare feet. The final selection will be made later this Spring, but we’ll stand a better chance of getting through if we have a re-location spot allocated. If you know of somewhere where a Chelsea garden could be re-installed ( the budget includes re-location costs) please, please let me know and we’ll take it from there. If you need more info, just ask.

Many thanks,

Valerie

Hi Janet, thanks for responding. In the first instance could you let me know whereabouts you might be considering the re-location? Distance from London is a consideration regarding budget. However, there's been rather a glut from past exhibits re-located in the London/South East area, so the funders are keen to spread them about the country.

Thank you,

Valerie

Hi Janet,

that would be ideal - as it happens our designer is based in your area.

I'm new to this network ( indeed any online network) so I'm not sure of how we develop this conversation? Is is ok to exchange emails for example?

I'm about to go into a meeting, so if you respond, I may not get the change to reply until later this afternoon.

Best wishes,

Valerie

DPT have had one previously this was in the South West but if looking for a Devon location we could consider alternative sites depending on the space required.

Dear Collette, thank you for your interest in our project. We have opened up a dialogue with a colleage from this Forum which may resolve our relocation quest. However, if it doesn't, may I come back to you to explore the possibility of a Devon location further?

Thank you for bearing with me.

Best wishes,

Valerie

Hi Valerie,

I have had discussions with my collegues and we are excited to have the garden in our New Cross Site.  Our Neonatal Unit will welcome a healing garden that will contribute to the healing process particulary for bereaved parents.

Looking forward to your email.  The designer is welcome to visit the site as part of the design process.

Many thanks and all the best,

Janet

Dear Janet,

Thank you for your update. I'll pass your contact details on to our Designer who will be in touch. Please be aware that we are also exploring other potential sites with an NHS Trust.

Please also be aware that further to my previous email to you, our designer has alerted me that the relocation provision in the budget may only meet approx 50% of the actual relocation costs. Therefore the recipients may need to meet the additional costs. The actual costs will depend on the accesssibility and adaptability of the site, which would only be revealed in due course once the site has been examined. The designer will advise on all this.

Many thanks to you and your team for your interest.

Warm regards,

Valerie
