The RCPsych Awards mark the highest level of achievement in psychiatry.  This is an  opportunity to nominate the mental health team you work in or maybe just know about and really promote the work currently happening to improve sustainability.

Please do consider submitting any level of project that has managed to reduce the carbon footprint or environmental impact of your team. This might be as simple as increasing recycling or agreeing to turn all the computers off. Other ideas include:

  • reducing prescribing rates in your team
  • reducing travel costs
  • reducing energy use
  • increasing the use of greenspace for patients managed by your team
  • a team all deciding to cycle to work instead of driving
  • reducing non-attendance at clinics which leads to reduced energy costs of clinic rooms

Whatever your project might be, members of this network could really make a stand here and promote sustainability in their team on a national level by submitting an example of how they have improved sustainability and reduced the environmental burden of their team's daily practice.
