The British Journal of Renal Medicine has published an article on the opportunities for reducing waste in the delivery of acid for haemodialysis, authored by members of the Green Nephrology Network:

The article draws upon entries to the 2012 Green Nephrology Awards, describing a range of different approaches, from the central delivery of acid from bulk storage tanks to switching to higher concentrations to reduce the volume of fluid transported, and the replacement of plastic cans with lightweight bags.
