Carbon footprint of single-use & reusable sharps

This open access BMJ article investigates the carbon footprint of converting from single-use to reusable sharps containers in 40 UK NHS trusts.
The study compared the global warming potential of hospitals converting from single-use to reusable sharps containers and highlighted the reduction in the sharps waste stream carbon footprint of 84%.

Thanks for raising this discussion point Jacqueline, have you experienced using Sharpsmart containers and if so, why do you think re-usable containers are still only adopted by ~30% of NHS trusts in the UK?
