Case Studies
Case Studies In Sustainable Healthcare
A key resource to call upon when looking to implement sustainable initiatives into healthcare.
Case Studies are a vital part of transforming knowledge into action and providing a clear record of projects and outcomes. By creating a case study you add to the evidence base for sustainable healthcare and share learning which helps others to take action within their own remit. The case studies housed or linked to on the CSH Resource Library provide a clear oversight of your project work and describe the carbon, financial, environmental, and social savings and benefits. Find out more about our sustainable healthcare case studies, how to carry out and submit your own or how to publish a link to an existing case study below.
What Is A Case Study in Sustainability?
Generally, a case study is an in-depth, detailed examination of a particular case within a real-world context. A sustainability specific case study in a medical or healthcare setting for example, may focus on an individual patient or ailment, or or a department-wide problem to be solved.
Here are some examples of case studies published in our Resource Library:
This pathway based project is a good example of a simple change that is saving a lot of MDT staff time - Hand Therapy Pre-operative Appointment for Plastic Hand Trauma Patients | Sustainable Healthcare Networks Hub
A case study highlighting the work of a winning team for GOSH where the financial savings were very high to just 10 patients - Kapsule Kids | Sustainable Healthcare Networks Hub
Why Write Up A Case Study From Your Healthcare Setting
Case studies are extremely important for sharing best practice and learning from implementation.
We are happy to host your case study for you, we are also happy to link to case studies hosted elsewhere. Just follow the instructions below to upload a case study or create a resource in the resource library to link to your case study hosted elsewhere.
Is your case study the same or similar to other projects already in our resource library? Not to worry, we'd still like to see yours posted in our library. The learning on barriers and enablers in different contexts can be really valuable. Note that all SusQI case studies have used QI methods and follow reporting guidelines for QI projects.
My Case Study Is Published Somewhere Else, Can I Still Add It To The CSH Resource Library?
The short answer is, yes, we welcome case studies that already exist in another space, they don't need to be housed on the CSH Resource Library, you can simply create a post to introduce the reader to your case study, explaining the practical details of who was involved, what you had to do, any issues you encountered and the results with a link to the original hosting site. We value the impact case studies have on promoting learning and sharing and strongly believe this is a fundamental element to successfully implementing sustainable practices in healthcare systems, globally. We welcome new and old case studies, case studies published directly onto our Resource library (as a downloadable pdf), using the templates we provide (or not) and case studies published elsewhere, linking to other sites. This is a joint effort, an open access, free and global resource library.
