Inhaler returns

Hi everyone,

I'm working in paediatrics in Newcastle and looking into inhaler carbon footprints, amongst other things. I've been trying to find out about hospital / community inhaler return schemes and really drawn a blank on this. I know that there is no national scheme but am wondering about what regional schemes exist. Does anyone have any success stories from their local areas where inhaler return is working well or where they have contributed to the set-up of inhaler return schemes? Would be interested to hear from you if so.

Hi Emily, as far as I know the only sizable recycling scheme is the Chiesi funded one in Leicestershire. I think the Teva and GSK ones have ended. If you post this question in the Greener Practice WhatsApp group you will probably get more response so if you aren't already in that might be worth joining. You should be able to do this through the Greener Practice website I think. All the best James
