Greener Health Project underway in Wiltshire

Just pinging a quick post to let you know that the Greener Health Project, launched through the Wiltshire Mental Health Inclusion Service is up and running.

It aims to support people to improve their health through environmentally-sustainable lifestyle changes.

How's it going so far?

Referrals have been a little slow due to my inability to get on with the publicity, and the fact that it's 1:1 intensive work with people.  However a couple of good outcomes so far...

Well...  One person (over the course of 3 months)  has moved from being very housebound, only taking taxis to medical appointments, to now walking or cycling to a local community centre three times/week.  We are working on him cycling longer distances to get to the pharmacy by bike instead of cab, and 'green' ways of managing anxiety.

Another person is now using her bike to get to a local cleaning job (she normally drives her car). We are working on her using her bike more often for general errands, and increased socialisation through participation in local environmental groups & activities.

The Greener Health Project also supports people to volunteer at a local permaculture farm, and then there's the Greener Health Group.

I will leave it here: Attached is our poster here if anyone is interested!
