What can music therapy organisations do about climate change?

Hello everyone,

We've not been very active on this network for a while, apologies! Aiming to stay more up to date in future - and please do add to the conversation with your own thoughts, suggestions or resources to share.

An exciting development is that the UK Health Alliance has recently produced a set of guiding principles for health organisations to demonstrate leadership and take steps to mitigate and adapt to climate change. You can read more here:

https://ukhealthalliance.org/about/our-commitments/

For those of us who work in music therapy organisations, this invites us to think about the different ways that we could be encouraging our organisations to take action when it comes to climate emergency. Please spread the word - the more of us that raise these issues, the greater chance we have of helping to shape positive change in our workplaces.

How can we do this? Suggested actions... we can talk about these commitments within our organisations. Share them with senior leaders, and think about what are the areas that as individuals, or in groups, we could be involved in promoting or supporting. For those of us who work freelance, we could consider contacting the university or organisation where we did our masters training, or BAMT, and asking what their sustainability commitments are.

And finally, for anyone who is active on Twitter, please consider following us - @MusicSusnet for ideas and suggestions of how to encourage sustainability within our profession, as well as links to organisations that are doing exciting things...
