Launch of NHS Carbon Reduction Strategy

Three people from the Campaign for Greener Healthcare attended the launch of the NHS Carbon Reduction Strategy on 27th January.  Frances Mortimer, Medical Director for the Campaign said "The launch of the Strategy is a landmark in the development of a low carbon health service and the strong buy-in from NHS organisations is very encouraging.  The Strategy sets out the scale of the challenge and highlights the areas that need action, however, its success will be determined by what action now takes place.  Given the appetitie for strong measures it will be interesting to see how organisations take up the challenge and deliver against these tough targets.  Our particular focus is captured in the Looking Ahead section of the Strategy, and we have already begun working with clinical specialties on creating new models for healthcare delivery in a low carbon society."
