Evolved from the prestigious Sustainable Communities Awards and in association with the Local Government Chronicle and Health Service Journal, these awards focus on recognising the understated achievements that community partnerships generate.

Suppliers Delivering Sustainability Award

The NHS Purchasing and Supply Agency and Department of Health are sponsoring this award and are looking for organisations that are making a meaningful contribution to social, environmental or community objectives. We want to encourage as many suppliers of goods and services to enter this award. Please forward this information to any of your suppliers that may be interested in entering.

Entry is open to suppliers to the health and social care sector who can demonstrate how they have:

  • Contributed to the improved sustainability performance of health and social care organisations.
  • Improved the environmental performance of the goods and services it supplies.
  • Improved health and well being of those within their supply chain.
  • Worked in partnership with customers and their key stakeholders to deliver improvements in sustainable performance.

Previous winners have included Wolseley UK for their innovative sustainable building centre showcasing the most up-to-date sustainable building products and St Andrews Healthcare for their work on sustainable food.

Best Procurement Partnership

As part of these awards there is also a sustainable procurement category for public sector organisations that have done innovative work to capture social and environmental issues within the procurement activity.

The closing date for both awards is Friday 23 October 2009. Registration and further information can be found on the awards website: www.communitypartnershipsawards.co.uk.
