This Highly Commended SusQI project was completed as part of the Leeds Green Ward Competition 10th January - 25th March 2022 by the Renal Transplant Team.

Team Members:

  • Natalie Bird - Clinical Nurse Specialist, Renal Transplant
  • Laura Kirk - Clinical Nurse Specialist, Renal Transplant
  • Jo Wales - Clinical Nurse Specialist, Live Renal Donation
  • Jo Hitchings - Senior Clinical Support Worker

Project Aim:

To measure the environmental, social and financial benefits of a new postal system compared with an old postal system for home blood tests.

Results:

Changing to the new kits will save the service 1,219.9 kgCO2e (equivalent to driving 3,500 miles in an average car) and £1951.38 per year. The new kits are also easier for patients to use, improving their care experience.
