These recommendations to support healthcare providers working in the renal field were developed to raise awareness of the importance of evaluation of the current situation in their renal units as a first step and to develop strategic plans to improve the environmental status of renal units as an overall goal.
The recommendations are based on a survey of environmentally friendly activities among renal units across Europe and are accompanied by an online environmental checklist to support units to conduct an initial evaluation and review before starting to implement new procedures or introduce improvement projects.
