This project was started by a group of physical health nurses and occupational therapists at the Guiold Lodge for their patients. The staff thought the walking group would be a good way to increase physical activity amongst patients and address weight and physical health issues. The group follows a walking route three times a week. It started with two patients and numbers have increased. Each patient has a risk assessment before joining the walks and has permission to leave the premises via the Section 17 Leave of Absence. The group meets at different locations during the week and is led by various staff members. Patients have enjoyed the social aspect of the group and it has been a low cost activity to establish and maintain.
