We believe sustainability within healthcare is an important issue for our healthcare system, and one of growing importance for future healthcare professionals. Instigating the values of sustainable healthcare from the beginning of training will affect the practice of future healthcare professionals, benefiting the health of both our society and our planet.
The SHE network is looking for clinical educators and healthcare students with a passion for improving education opportunities and the curriculum in this area. We are looking for representatives to work within their institution, with support from the SHE network, to increase the presence of sustainability training in the curriculum, finding opportunities where this can be added or expanded. Representatives would also be a point of contact for students and educators alike who are interested in projects around the subject. As well as representing SHE within your institution, you would also represent your university when feeding back the progress you have made.
We will also be hosting a workshop in the Autumn term 2018 with the aim of providing lots of ideas and resources for representatives. Further details will be released in the coming weeks.
If this sounds like something you would be interested in, please contact me at: johanna.brooke@sustainablehealthcare.org.uk. For further information on the roles of student and staff representatives, follow the link for SHE Network Representative Role Description.
