Hello,
I am interested to know if the endowment charities in any other NHS trusts/boards are funding sustainability projects?
The Edinburgh and Lothian Health Foundation (who I work for) have recently launched a Climate Challenge fund and we are interested to see how well it works and hear stories from others. The fund is targeted at NHS Lothian staff and you can find an overview of below or see more details here https://www.elhf.co.uk/grant-seekers/climate-challenge-grants/
New for 2022 - Edinburgh & Lothians Health Foundation Climate Challenge Grants – up to £5,000 available
Do you have an idea on how you could make changes in your area, ward or department that would have a positive impact on climate change? Do you need funding to help you take it forward? Edinburgh and Lothians Health Foundation have launched a new Climate Challenge Grants programme to support you to achieve this.
The Climate Challenge Grants are designed to help you explore new ideas as well as new ways of working and thinking that will help tackle climate change. Small changes can have a big impact, and by finding ways to reduce the unnecessary use of resources across NHS Lothian, you can help reduce the impact of healthcare activities on the environment and make it sustainable for future generations.
Ideas of what you could use funding for:
- Projects that explore how we can reduce, reuse and recycle more
- Staff training to improve carbon literacy and knowledge and understanding of sustainability in healthcare
- Projects that reduce carbon emissions from smarter ways to travel for patients and staff
- New ways of communicating the impact of climate change on healthcare services
- Projects that make better use of sustainable food growing
- Exploring how we can use technology to reduce resources and deliver more sustainable services
- Projects that make better use of our outdoor estate to mitigate climate change and enhance biodiversity
