New research led by the Green Financial Institute has found that damage to the natural environment is also harming the economy and could lead to a loss of 12% to UK GDP. The UK is one of the most nature-depleted countries in the world, with three quarters of the country having high levels of ecosystem degradation. This is leaving the economy and financial sector exposed, as the risks from nature degradation continue to rise and often remain unchecked.
