The EDTNA/ERCA 42nd International Conference is inviting abstracts on Green Innovations - pioneering work to reduce the environmental burden of dialysis (closing date 15th February 2013).
The EDTNA/ERCA & Fresenius Medical Care set up a project called “Go Green in Dialysis” in 2009 and published the “Environmental Guidelines for Dialysis Handbook” at the occasion of the 40th EDTNA/ERCA International Conference in 2011. This Handbook takes into account the increasing impact on the environment, water consumption, waste water generation, energy consumption, clinical waste incineration and CO2 emission caused by haemodialysis.
Due to the fact the 42nd EDTNA/ERCA International Conference will be held in Malmö which is famous by its environmental achievements, the EDTNA/ERCA & Fresenius Medical Care decided to establish three annual awards with the aim to give recognition to innovative ideas and best practices, as well as procedures by either individuals (single or groups) or as representatives of other associated organizations or institutions, which contribute to the promotion and development in the field of environmental protection in dialysis.
The award will honour specific projects, promising concepts, and the work of committed employees and institutions which respond to the challenges of environmental protection in haemodialysis. Projects should demonstrate benefits of the green innovation and environmental benefits must be transferable, measurable and sustainable.
If you are interested to win one of the three awards please submit your application and abstract by February 15th 2013. The award winners and their projects will be presented at the 42nd EDTNA/ERCA International Conference in Malmö. More details are available on the EDTNA/ERCA website www.edtnaerca.org.
