What is Green Nephrology, why is it important to kidney patients, and how can patients, carers and local Kidney Patients' Associations get involved? CSH, the National Kidney Federation (NKF) and members of this Network have been working together on a Green Nephrology patient leaflet, published today - NHS Sustainability Day 2015.
The editorial team included patients, a carer, kidney doctors and a renal matron - with lots more input from Network members via the Green Nephrology forum.
It was great to be working with the NKF on this project. We hope that the leaflet will encourage patients to take action themselves to improve sustainability of kidney care, but also to use their voices to encourage their kidney unit save resources where they can. Knowing that patients are interested and supportive can make a huge difference to Green Nephrology staff representatives and what they can achieve.
The leaflet and accompanying posters are available to download here or from the NKF website, and printed copies can be supplied through the NKF Helpline on 0845 601 02 09. Please do make use of them to give to patients, friends and colleagues.
If you are a patient or carer and would like to know more about supporting Green Nephrology, please get in touch.
An idea was suggested to me recently to increase circulation of the Green Nephrology patient information leaflet - could renal units include it with welcome material for their new patients?
It would be good to know what people think. If it seems like a good idea, perhaps members of this Network could raise it with the relevant people in your local units? (and let us know the response)
Printed copies can be supplied through the NKF helpline, 0845 601 02 09, or it is available to download as a pdf here: http://sustainablehealthcare.org.uk/green-nephrology/resources/2015/03/…
