Patient Voice in Ophthalmic Research

This project carried out by University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust aims to improve patient outcome by considering the current role of patients in ophthalmic research and their influence over priorities.

Although more research is needed toward understanding the environmental, financial, and social impacts linked to increased patient advocacy, this project opens up an important conversation that could influence better knowledge acquisition in ophthalmic research as well as improve current processes.

Thanks for sharing this post, would be very helpful to have a better understanding/evidence base of whether the public feel that the negative environmental impact of healthcare and healthcare responding to environmental change are important issues...important enough to be influencing NIHR and other Research Funding organisations "Calls" for grants/bids....does anyone know if there is generic evidence base on this.....i would seriously doubt anyone has looked at this in the context of eye care even though we know the carbon footprint of a single cataract operation and with cataract surgery being the commonest elective procedure of all in the UK we produce a huge amount of plastic waste

I haven't come across publications that discuss the public, their opinions, and their influence in terms of ophthalmic care and the environment. I will definitely send it your way if I see anything interesting.
