This short report from Public Health England provides analysis based on NHS England's 2010 to 2014 programme budgeting data. It looks at population attributable fractions for ischaemic heart disease, ischaemic stroke, breast cancer, colon/rectum cancer and diabetes mellitus and estimates CCG financial costs that can be directly attributable to inadequate levels of physical activity. The analysis finds that costs have come down but argues that this is likely to be related to changes in resource allocation in the shift from PCTs to CCGs and also to changes in WHO methodology.
