Re-usable patient warming blankets

Does anyone have any experience of re-usable patient warming blankets (as opposed to the disposable type eg "Bair Hugger"TM)? Our procurement team have asked me to look into this, but mentioned that one of the concerns raised was the lack of an approved cleaning method  for some of the products. They are keen to hear about other trusts that are successfully using them, and how they are managing the cleaning/infection control side of things. I would be really grateful for any suggestions/experience anyone might have?

Many thanks

My question is what is the "reusable" convective blanket being used for?
If the proposal is for routine in theatre use then conductive warming has lower in use energy consumption than convective as well as lower disposables (estimated saving £9000 pa per OR). If on the otherhand the proposed use is for sporadic use then blankets in a (i.v. fluid) warming cupboard are a suggestion. Tom Pierce

Thank you so much both for your comments. I don't work in theatres so only see them in use in ED, but understand they are used in theatres too. So I will suggest that theatres look into those conductive warming options, and that ED could try the blankets in warming cupboard. Thank you
