Emergency Eye Care is widely used in the UK and understanding more about the processes involved in care delivery can be beneficial toward improving workflow and appropriately allocating resources.

The Cardiff & Vale University Health Board carried out a study in 108 hospitals within 101 trusts in the UK. This study examined current staff allocation to Emergency Eye Care within hospitals, scheduling practices, and workload.

The project intends to clarify how the provision of Emergency Eye Care is organized within these 108 hospitals. This information allows trusts to create evidence-based efforts to improve patient’s outcomes and reduce financial and environmental waste.
