Seeking Insights on Urine Sample Collection Device Innovation (P-Pod)

Hi everyone,

I’m reaching out to see if anyone would be interested in sharing NHS insights /learning more about an innovation called the P-Pod, developed by MTD Limited — a urine sample collection device.

The P-Pod is made from a cardboard sheet with a cellulose film liner derived from sustainably managed wood pulp. It’s designed to be easy to use, secure for sample transport and more environmentally friendly than plastic containers. A USP is that the device is flat-packed, enabling much larger quantities to be transported, with potential cost and carbon savings across logistics and procurement.

MTD Limited have already conducted 300 user trials and the product is now in commercial use with Let’s Get Checked. They are particularly interested in understanding its viability and value within the NHS, especially from a waste management and sustainability perspective. Given that there is currently only one other similar “pee-in-pot” innovation used in the NHS, any reflections from this community would be extremely valuable.

The innovators are looking for NHS colleagues to share insights about whether the P-Pod would be helpful, or not, depending on different clinical settings and experiences. They are very interested to better understand the practicalities and what matters most in urine collection devices, and how to make them more sustainable. If you would be open to sharing your perspective, please feel free to get in touch with me at:
