This came through to me today & may interest those incorporating therapeutic gardening into care (I'm currently studying with LetsGrowTogether/TrustLinks to get a cert in Therapeutic Gardening)

This Thursday is the first ever World Therapeutic Horticulture Day! This has been organized by Thrive and Trellis, as well as a number of other associations around the world. Please see the email below on more information about how you can help celebrate this day.

I am very excited to announce the launch of the first World Therapeutic Horticulture Day on 18th May 2023. The teams at Thrive and Trellis have been working with over a dozen national associations from around the world to launch this inaugural day and we’d love you to help us celebrate it! This global celebration is dedicated to highlighting the many therapeutic benefits of horticulture and gardening, such as improved mental and physical health, as well as their positive impacts on the environment.

The aims of World Therapeutic Horticulture Day are:

  • To raise awareness about the therapeutic use of horticulture throughout the world, the skilled practitioners who work in this field and the benefits this brings to society
  • To connect and partner with other groups around the world that are focused on therapeutic horticulture, horticultural or garden therapy and other nature or plant-based interventions

The role and value of therapeutic horticulture practitioners cannot be underestimated – they are highly skilled, vital allies to health and care professionals, providing a natural, sustainable, and effective approach to healthcare that deserves to be celebrated and promoted.

So, join us for a global celebration of ‘World Therapeutic Horticulture Day’ on the 18th of May.  The Trellis webpage ( https://www.trellisscotland.org.uk/content/world-therapeutic-horticulture-day-2023-0) has more information and links to the logo and images that you can use.  Please do:

  • share your images, video clips and stories of therapeutic horticulture across social media
  • remember to use the hashtags -
