Claire Michie (professional lead occupational therapist for acute mental health services) and Ben Whittaker, (Occupational Therapist working in Mental Health and the Centre for Sustainable Healthcare  AHP Lead) will present on green walking, green gyms and green spaces for mental health. Claire’s occupational therapy team recently won a Positive Practice Award, sustainability category for implementing green walking groups across wards and improving green spaces within the hospital.

Claire is a professional lead occupational therapist for acute mental health services in Brighton and Hove. She has worked for Sussex Partnership Trust for the last 10 years. During this time, she has also developed and increased access to green, nature based interventions for service users to support their mental health recovery.

Facilitated by Dan Loveard from the Centre for Sustainable Healthcare.

This Greener AHP week is an opportunity to:

  • share projects and ideas for AHPs to get involved
  • raise awareness of the links between health and climate change, the NHS net zero ambition, and the shifts required to build a Greener NHS programme, nationally and regionally
  • support each other and grow networks
  • consider what a greener NHS might look like and what the benefits can be for us all.
