Welcome!

This second post on our new network is really about sharing with you current work and the exciting times ahead.

New guidance from UK Gov has been released for health professionals - this guidance addresses issues related to climate change and aims to help frontline health and care professionals use their trusted relationships with patients, families and communities to reduce the contribution of the health and care system to the climate crisis.

Secondly, I would like to share with you the work being conducted by the EFLM Green Lab Taskforce of which I am one of the core members. The aim of this new Task Force is to facilitate the transformation of  clinical laboratories into safe and sustainable spaces. We aim to do this by providing guidance to help decrease the negative environmental impact of clinical labs, by assisting with the implementatiom of efficient actions in laboratories. helping them to minimize energy, water, and hazardous chemical use, and reduxe waste generation without compromising the quality of healthcare.

I would like to invite you to visit the website EFLM Green Lab Taskforce to learn about our current activities.

Finally I would like to provide you with a link to a useful article in the BioScientist  No Time to Waste.. This article explores laboratory sustainability and provides information on some great organisations already supporting academic and research laboratories to tackle sustainability.

SDG 17: Collaboration and Partnerships - Only by working together can we make a difference.

Best Wishes

Sheri Scott
