We are delighted that our CSH Sustainable Surgery Fellow, Chantelle Rizan has been awarded a Surgical Research Fellowship at the Royal College of Surgeons of England (RCSEng). This supports her PhD (co-funded by Health Education England), which aims to explore ways to improve the environmental impact of operating theatres.

Chantelle presented at the RCSEng Council Meeting last week on the challenges and opportunities surrounding surgical sustainability, alongside our CSH Associate Mahmood Bhutta (Founder of the BMA Fair and Ethical Trade Group). This stimulated an interesting debate on steps that could be taken to improve sustainability within the surgical setting.
