Dear All,

My research team are now recruiting for our project on sustainable operating theatre design.

Researchers at the University of Cambridge in Medicine, Architecture, and Engineering are looking for surgeons (ST7/8 or FRCS), theatre nurses/ODPs (minimum 3 years’ experience) and anaesthetists’ (ST6/7 or FRCA) to interview regarding their perspectives and feedback on current operating theatre designs and environment. We will also ask for feedback on new operating theatre designs. These online interviews will last up to 30 minutes.

The findings from the interviews will be discussed with key stakeholders (i.e., Building Design Partnership Ltd (BDP), Burro Happold, chartered institute of building engineers (CIBSE) and the institute of hospital engineering and estate management (IHEEM)) to establish a white paper and policy on building and retrofitting surgical theatres in the NHS.

If you are interested in participating or have any questions please email me on:

Best Wishes,

Rabiya

Hi Everyone,

We are still recruiting for this study and need more operating theatre staff.

Please do get in touch if you would like to contribute and influence the design of future operating theatres.

We need more orthopaedic, neuro, cardiothoracic, transplant specialists and other specialties where infection during surgery is of particular concern to give us feedback on our low carbon operating theatre design.

Email us on if you have any questions or to participate: ExISE@THISinstitute.cam.ac.uk

Best Wishes,

Rabiya
