SHE Network update & invitation to telemeeting: 15 November 2012, 2pm

Members of this network are invited to join a telemeeting 2-3pm on Thursday 15th November 2012.

The meeting will review recent activity including the following:

GMC curriculum consultation working group

In response to a request from the GMC, a SHE working group (Bristol, East Anglia, Hull, Sheffield, CSH) is re-drafting priority learning outcomes for teaching on sustainability and health in medical education.   Our draft learning outcomes for sustainable medicine teaching arehere.    The working group are also putting together a high-level national consultation on integrating the learning outcomes into all levels of medical education. Higher Education Authority curriculum development grant activities

The HEA has funded SHE for a project called ‘Collaborative curriculum development: preparing medical students to lead a sustainable healthcare system’.   We are looking for interns to help with creating vidcasts for this project which is being co-led by Medsin Healthy Planet. Upcoming SHE Workshops 

SHE members are available to visit your medical school and help plan curricula and teaching approaches to integrate sustainability, climate change and health topics into core and optional subjects.  The next workshop will be held at Leicester or Nottingham on the afternoon of February 6th 2013.  If you would like to join in or if you would like to host a workshop for faculty members in your school, or for medical schools in your region, please contact Stefi Barna s.barna@uea.ac.uk

Meetings / Conferences / Publications

SHE members presented at various conferences this year including the annual meetings of the Association for the Study of Medical Education, the Society for Academic Primary Care, the Royal College of General Practitioners and NET Networking for Education in the Health Professions.  

New publications include:   

We are looking for collaborators to submit presentations for the following conferences this year:ASME, AMEE, RCGP/SAPC, FPH, etc.  Please let us know if you would like to co-present.
