The Food & Nutrition Sustainability Network is for anyone wanting to connect, collaborate and advance sustainable food and nutrition in healthcare. Our scope includes the environmental and health impact of global food systems, the latest research and evidence on sustainable diets, and the interpretation of this into dietary guidance.
Broadly we know a sustainable diet is:
- Plant-forward – A focus on eating a broad range of plants: vegetables, legumes, nuts, fruit, and wholegrains.
- Low in animal sourced food – especially red and processed meat
- Low in added sugar, salt, saturated fat, refined grains and processing
- Nutritious, healthy and disease preventative.
- Focussed on minimising food waste
- Accessible and affordable for all
How we started
Food & Nutrition Susnet was formed in May 2023 by a group of health professionals who connected through CSH’s monthly sustainable food and nutrition networking events.
