Navigating the Future: Environment, Equity and Resilience in Sustainable Global Health

Olly Coe
Host organisation : Brighton & Sussex Medical School

About this session
Sustainability is central to the future of healthcare. Climate change and environmental degradation are increasingly recognised as major threats to global health, exacerbating existing inequalities and placing additional strain on already fragile health systems. At the same time, healthcare itself contributes significantly to environmental degradation, highlighting the urgent need for more sustainable approaches to health system design and delivery.

The latest installment in our Current Stories in Global Health event series brings together experts from policy, research, and frontline practice to explore how healthcare systems globally can evolve sustainably while strengthening resilience and justice.

Join us for an insightful evening with experts who will discuss practical strategies for reducing the environmental footprint of healthcare, strengthening systems to withstand climate impacts and supporting sustainable and equitable approaches for long-term systems resilience.

Whether you are a policy maker, researcher, healthcare professional, aspiring global health professional or student, this event will provide you with an understanding of what is needed to make meaningful changes that address inequalities in health.

Speakers include:

  • Prof Mahmood Bhutta (Chair)
  • Nina Wertholz
  • Fawzia Rasheed
  • Collins Iwuji

This online event is free and open to all. The session will take place on Zoom – register now on Eventbrite and we will send the Zoom link in the week of the event.
