The Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) Greener Pharmacy Toolkit was launched in April 2025 to support pharmacy staff to reduce their carbon footprint as well as save money and improve services. The toolkit can be used to demonstrate the processes, initiatives and considerations that pharmacy services are embedding to address NHS Net Zero. Greater Manchester Provider Trusts has piloted the Toolkit, and are working on projects to integrate sustainability into service improvements within trusts including Your medicines matter (Patients’ Own Drugs), respiratory and IV and liquid switches to oral, with training to raise awareness of Pharmacy’s influence on carbon savings.
