Dr Suren Kanagasundaram, Clinical Co-Chair of the UKKA SKC committee. Suren and the the Green Nephrology Group in Newcastle Upon Tyne Foundation NHS Trust collaborated with The Sustainable Healthcare Coalition (SHC) and AstraZeneca to produce ICHDcarbon.org, a free, online carbon footprint calculator for use by in-centre haemodialysis units.

Dr Caroline Stigant, Nephrologist at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, Canada. Dr. Stigant conceived and delivering the inaugural UBC undergraduate medicine lecture ‘The climate crisis, planetary health, and medical practice – a call to action’. She is co-recipient of grants to reduce environmental impact of medical care in Victoria area hospitals, and chairs the SNAP (Sustainable Nephrology Action Planning) committee. Active research interests include environmental assessment of kidney disease therapies, and enduring visions include development of quality low carbon kidney care systems, and the alignment of medical practice with Planetary Health principles.

Mark Harber, Honorary senior lecturer and consultant nephrologist at Royal Free Hospital & Co-leads the Action, Learning and Education. Mark Harber is a Honorary senior lecturer and consultant nephrologist at Royal Free Hospital, who co-leads the Action, Learning and Education workstream of the UKKA SKC committee to inspire and empower members of the kidney care community to take action for sustainability.

Luis de Mello, Doctor at Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Luis is a doctor at Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust with a background in Diagnostic Radiography before studying medicine at Newcastle University. He is interested in improving the sustainability of kidney care. Luis is a CSH/UKKA kidney scholar working on a project alongside the Sustainable Healthcare Coalition.

Her background is predominantly in dialysis and most recently in peritoneal dialysis. She is a CSH/UKKA Kidney Scholar examining patient pathways in peritoneal dialysis

Gareth Murcutt, Renal Technical Manager at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation. Gareth has been Renal Technical Manager at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust since 1996. Before this he worked in renal technology within both the NHS and the private sector, in the UK and abroad. During his CSH/UKKA Scholarship, Gareth analysed the cost/benefits and carbon footprint of dialysis acid concentrate being used via central acid delivery or by the traditional 5-litre can.

Dr Rosa Montero, CSH/UK Kidney Association Kidney scholar and a Kidney Consultant at St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Rosa is a CSH/UK Kidney Association Kidney scholar and a Kidney Consultant at St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Her current focus is looking at sustainable changes in dialysis and kidney transplantation locally and nationally as part of the UKKA Sustainable Kidney care committee in the action, learning and education subgroup to help embed SusQI in renal and Sustainability in UK transplantation with the British Transplantation Society.

Dr Sharan Chugani, Renal specialty registrar at Swansea Bay University Health Board. Sharan is a renal specialty registrar at Swansea Bay University Health Board and a CSH/UK Kidney Association Kidney scholar. He has a background working across a variety of hospitals across Wales and is part of the active green community in his health board. During his scholarship, Sharan examined how to make dialysis sessions in his hospital more sustainable and engaged with the consultation process for sustainability being incorporated into a new dialysis unit.
