Transgression of planetary boundaries and the effects on child health through an infectious diseases lens

This paper examines how the humanity-driven crossing of planetary boundaries beyond safe levels impacts the health of children, with an emphasis on infectious diseases. The review elucidates how environmental degradation and climate change contribute in the spread of infectious diseases around the globe, and how this disproportionately affects vulnerable groups specially children because of their developing immunity and vulnerability to fall sick. Urgent action is needed  to protect the health of children worldwide and to reduce the effects of climate change on our future generations.
