I was listening online to part of the recent sustainability study day from the RCR/AXREM sustainability working group. The first talk was from Prof Hugh Montgomery, who didn't mince his words - I'm not sure if it was recorded but ... if it was, I'd definitely recommend listening to his talk.
This was the second presentation in a month that I've been at which has clearly stated the magnitude of the environmental problems we face, and just how much this is likely to impact on our ability to deliver healthcare (amongst a lot of other things). The other presentation I was at was by an IPCC author, and in response to my question about how we should address this in healthcare, his suggestion was that since climate change is clearly a "health & safety" problem that we should use the familiar H&S tools to frame the problem in a way that healthcare managers are used to dealing with.
Should we be adding the risks of climate inaction to risk assessments for oncology services?
