I work in a medical/ infectious diseases ward. We have agreed as a team to work towards it being a 'green ward'. Estates/infection control/domestics/nurses/doctors all on board to change things. does anyone know of any resources/blueprints in how to achieve this? From energy to waste to reusables to prescribing. Any help gratefully received

I have done some work on mobility aid reuse scheme, not entirely specific but can anything single use be explored on reuse through appropriate cleaning.

TTO dispensing is something our A&E is looking into.

Training- if there cross site training or meetings can this be done on teams to avoid travel ?

Another A&E site in our trust has done this: We reduced coag testing which uses a lot of water to process by 50% by implementing a standard blood order system along with printed labels on the blood form specifying which tube to take.

not using single plastic cups for water for staff/ patients/ relatives.

Waste management streams - is the correct waste going in the correct bin?

2nd cannula insertions reduction/ cannulation packs being opened just for the dressing.

The list is endless, and can be overwhelming. Its ensuring each person has a task to work on in smaller working groups to achieve lots of small things at once. Protected time within their job to do it as well.

Thankyou so much for this! We are looking into most of those things. I suppose what im asking is if someone has put all this stuff together into one thing so we dont all have to rethink it all!
