Sustainability research

Really keen to hear about the sustainability research within paediatrics going on out there.

Where does PPE have a key role in infection control and where does handwashing suffice?

How does the carbon footprint of tablets compare with liquid medication?

In a recent tertiary neonatal unit I worked at, we did not use gloves before handling our premies- just clean hands after washing with soap and water.  We only used gloves when hands are likely to get contaminated -such as blood sampling.  And obviously sterile gloves for aseptic procedures.

I am curious to learn if other neonatal units do the same.

Avoiding routine use of gloves in neonatal unit can save thousands of gloves from landfill across the country.
